Chelsea news: Roman Abramovich seen waiting for private jet as £2.7bn bid 'submitted'

Roman Abramovich has been spotted for the first time since being sanctioned by the UK government.

The Chelsea owner, who had put the club up for sale prior to being added to the United Kingdom's sanctioned individuals list last Thursday, has been seen waiting for a private jet in Tel Aviv, Israel.

It comes as the biggest media group in the Middle East submitted an offer to purchase the Premier League outfit from Abramovich for £2.7billion.

And Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has launched an attack on the Blues for "taking advantage of every other club" for 20 years.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Chelsea headlines.

Carragher's scathing attack

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher launched an attack on Chelsea, saying the Blues have "taken advantage of every other club" since Roman Abramovich's arrival in 2003.

The club's billionaire owner has put the club up for sale following Russia's invasion of Ukraine as his links to Vladimir Putin have come under close scrutiny.

Abramovich purchased the Stamford Bridge outfit for £140million in 2003 but is now looking for around £3billion as he looks to sell up.

And Carragher has made his feelings on the Russian oligarch's time at Chelsea quite clear as he attacked the club for "throwing money about" to "get who we want".

Bid submitted

Saudi Media Group have submitted a £2.7billion offer to purchase Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich has had his assets frozen in the UK in the wake of Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, although he continues to deny any links to president Vladimir Putin.

But he had already announced his intention to sell up, a move he said was in the "best interest of the club".

The deadline for any interested parties to submit an offer for the Blues is March 18 – and it now appears there could be a couple on the table.

He has had his assets frozen by the UK government while Chelsea must also operate on a reduced budget and are unable to buy or sell players, negotiate new contracts or sell any merchandise.

But Abramovich has now been seen in an airport VIP lounge before catching a flight, where he was pictured on his phone.

Dressed all in black, it is the first time Abramovich has been seen since February 12.
