Chelsea news: Richarlison answers "insane" question as star responds to Blues' interest

By the time Chelsea are next in action in the Premier League, nearly a full month will have passed since their last domestic game.

The Blues beat West Ham United in Thomas Tuchel's final league match in charge, with the German manager sacked after a Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb. With league games against Fulham and Liverpool postponed, new manager Graham Potter has taken charge of just one match - a home draw against Red Bull Salzburg.

Potter's first domestic test will come at Crystal Palace on October 1, with plenty happening in the interim. Here are the latest news lines coming out of west London.

Richarlison responds to bust-up

Former Chelsea target Richarlison has opened up on his reaction to the managerial bust-up which occurred when the Blues faced his Tottenham Hotspur side in August. Late drama prompted a coming-together between the two managers, with then-Chelsea boss Tuchel later earning a ban for comments he made after the clash with Antonio Conte.

"Are you insane?" the Brazilian asked when quizzed by FourFourTwo on whether any of the Spurs players attempted to make light of what went on. "No chance, come on! Would you try any jokes? I did not."

Conte and Tuchel had a fiery encounter at the end of the game, but Richarlison and his teammates didn't see the whole thing unfold. Indeed, he has shared details of how the players from the north London side caught up with the events in the dressing room at full-time.

Hudson-Odoi's new role

Chelsea loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi has been used in a new role by Bayer Leverkusen as he earns regular football away from Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old has been used as a wide forward and wing-back by the Blues, but took up a more central role for the Bundesliga side over the weekend.

Hudson-Odoi was one of three men selected to play behind striker Patrik Schick as Leverkusen faced Werder Bremen over the weekend. However, rather than being used in a wide role, those watching the game at BayArena noticed him occupy a more central role behind the Czech international.

The youngster, who came through Chelsea's academy, left on loan at the end of August when Thomas Tuchel was still in the dugout. However, the Blues are believed to have an option to recall him in January.

Kounde explains Chelsea snub

Jules Kounde was swayed to join Barcelona by manager Xavi, the Frenchman has revealed. Chelsea were long-term admirers of the centre-back, but he opted to move to Camp Nou rather than Stamford Bridge when leaving Sevilla over the summer.

"I was close to signing for Chelsea this summer," the defender told L'Equipe. "They were talking to me and Barcelona were interested too, but there were always doubts from them. The moment that changed the situation was the phone call from Xavi, I did not hesitate from there.”

Kounde has two former Blues defenders as teammates in Catalunya, with Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso also joining Barca. Xavi's side sit second in La Liga after six games, having conceded just one goal in the competition.
