Chelsea news: Julian Nagelsmann's agent delivers job swipe as Thierry Henry reaches out

Chelsea's attention will already be turning to life under Mauricio Pochettino, who will succeed Graham Potter this summer.

Frank Lampard has been steering the club until the end of the season, but the Blues' miserable campaign has continued under his watch. Chelsea will miss out on Europe with their lavishly assembled squad in major need of direction with several individuals set to leave this summer.

Todd Boehly's attention has been on finding a new permanent boss with Pochettino eventually coming out on top. The former Tottenham boss has previously impressed in the Premier League and has been cited as the ideal man for the west Londoners at this point in their development.

Here's the latest news coming out of Stamford Bridge.

Nagelsmann's agent delivers Chelsea dig

Julian Nagelsmann's agent has described Chelsea as a club "in troubled waters" and insisted his client was correct to snub a move to west London.

Volker Struth, the agent of the former Bayern Munich boss, has also claimed that the Blues viewed Nagelsmann as their number one target and only turned their attention to Pochettino once it became clear they would miss out on their main man.

Pochettino is on the cusp of becoming the latest manager at the helm of Chelsea, with the Argentine expected to sign a three-year deal in the coming days. It marks his first return to the English game since he was sacked from his post as Tottenham boss in November 2019.

Henry reaches out to Lukaku

Thierry Henry has admitted he was left "worried" by Romelu Lukaku's state of mind after the World Cup but revealed he messaged him every day to check on his mental and physical well-being.

Lukaku, 30, endured a nightmare tournament in Qatar after struggling with injuries and missing several chances in Belgium's do-or-die final group game against Croatia. The Inter Milan striker came on for the second half of their game at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium with Belgium needing to win to qualify for the last-16.

However, Roberto Martinez's side were held to a 0-0 draw as Croatia, who ended up reaching the semi-finals, squeezed through alongside Morocco in Group F. Lukaku cut a dejected figure after the game and was captured in tears as he also broke the dugout with a series of punches.

Leao's confession after failed move

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has confirmed he wants to one day play in the Premier League after it emerged that Chelsea were unsuccessful in a move to sign the Portugal international.

The Blues were looking to land the talented 23-year-old last summer but were unsuccessful in their attempts. So keen were transfer chiefs at Stamford Bridge, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic were offered to the Italian club in an exchange deal for the player.

Chelsea co-owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali had set aside an £87million budget to land the former Lille star, and when it emerged that money would not be enough to land the forward, then they moved towards the possibility of players moving the other way.

"Anyone would like to play in the Premier League because it's a very competitive league," Leao said to Record. "It has engaging football, great teams and a worldwide audience. Serie A is currently very well-positioned in international football. The Premier League in the future."
