Chelsea target Enzo Fernandez profiled amid bright World Cup
Another Chelsea-linked player who is having an impressive World Cup is Benfica and Argentina's Enzo Fernandez. The deep-lying midfielder scored in Argentina's 2-0 win over Mexico and is in line to start their round of 16 clash against Australia on Saturday evening.
Having joined the Portuguese side from River Plate as recently as this summer, the 21-year-old is already being linked with some of Europe's elite clubs who will have to meet his €120million (£102.8million) release clause if they wish to sign him in January.
With N'Golo Kante and Jorginho's contracts set to expire in 2023, it would certainly make sense for Chelsea to recruit a midfielder of Fernandez's elk. However, they could be beaten by another outfit if they don't move quickly enough.
