Chelsea are plotting to win their first Champions League game of the season at the third time of asking.
But a familiar face will stand in their way as part of the AC Milan team on Wednesday: Fikayo Tomori. Almost two years on from his bold decision to swap the Premier League for Serie A, the 24-year-old defender returns to his former home hoping to prove a point to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.
Tomori and co can ensure that the Blues' winless run in Europe this season goes on, having had two different managers in charge for each of their group-stage games thus far. Thomas Tuchel was replaced by Graham Potter last month, with the 49-year-old German already being touted for a new job.
Here's a round-up of the latest news from Stamford Bridge.
Tomori out to prove point
Fikayo Tomori is ready to show Chelsea what they missed by letting him go to AC Milan in January 2021. The 24-year-old centre-back, who was recently called up to the Three Lions' squad for September's Nations League doubler-header, helped Milan win the Serie A title in his first full season at San Siro and returns to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday with a point to prove.
"For me, it's another chance to see some familiar faces to show how I have developed," Tomori explained shortly after the group-stage draw took place. "I know people have watched the games but going back to Stamford Bridge, where it all started is a chance to show myself again.
Tuchel 'not interested' in quick comeback
Thomas Tuchel reportedly rejected the opportunity to make a swift return to management in the weeks following his shock sacking from Chelsea. The German tactician was booted out by Blues owner Todd Boehly just six games into this season, but that hasn't seen him short of work.
According to reports in Germany, via Sport Witness, Tuchel was approached by Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in a plot to replace under-pressure boss Gerardo Seoan. After making contact with the 49-year-old coach, however, Tuchel made it clear that he wasn't interested in returning to the dugout so soon.

Potter shuts down Ronaldo talk
Graham Potter isn't willing to get drawn into speculation surrounding Chelsea's potential move for Manchester United want-away Cristiano Ronaldo. The Blues are reportedly still interested in the 37-year-old megastar, who'll reportedly be allowed to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window if United receive a suitable offer.
But Potter poured cold water on the topic of Ronaldo and fellow transfer target Christopher Nkunku during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. "My answer is that I don't speak about players that aren't Chelsea players," the English tactician declared. "It was the same at Brighton. There are a lot of names out there but I will only speak about Chelsea players and not anyone else."
