Boehly mistake
Chelsea's summer outlay on players fell just £35m short of Real Madrid's record 2019 spend but it was still more than any other English team. With the cash going out he will have expected immediate results.
Over seven months on from the takeover and tangible evidence of progression is yet to show despite the raft of new signings at Stamford Bridge. With a busy January window already on the transfer front and more expected to follow, Boehly can't afford more investment to not pay off.
Graham Potter has access to one of the best academies in world football though and that has only been bolstered by the youth recruitment drive from Boehly and Co.

When asked about Fernandez on Friday, Schmidt said: "Now we restart from zero with Enzo. He will be back today, we count on him - he's our player, we need Enzo."

Chelsea confirm Fofana

The forward is the second signing of the window after Benoit Badiashile. An announcement had been made confirming the pre-agreement with Molde for the 20-year-old Ivorian before the new year.
Fofana, along with Badiashile and summer transfer Gabriel Slonina, are all available for selection against Manchester City and have been given squad numbers.
