Potter responds to Stamford Bridge boos

Graham Potter admitted he is understanding of criticism from Chelsea supporters after his side were booed off the pitch following their 1-0 defeat to basement boys Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Despite registering 17 shots and dominating 61% of possession on home soil, a trademark James Ward Prowse free-kick extended the Blues' winless streak to five matches across all competitions and ensured they would remain in a severely underwhelming position of 10th.

And in his post-match press conference, Potter acknowledged Chelsea must perform better or face being on the receiving end of such condemnation by their own fans.

"After a 1-0 defeat at home, any criticism you get is understandable," Potter explained. "We've had a tough period and are integrating young players into the Premier League. When results don't go your way it's tough.

Andrey Santos loan

Chelsea star Andrey Santos will have to wait a number of months to make his official Blues debut after another work permit application was rejected.

The Brazilian international was Graham Potter's third January arrival joining from Serie B outfit Vasco de Gama for £16million, but he is yet to appear for his new club.

The hope was that his displays at the South America under-20 championships, that he helped Brazil win, would be enough to see a work permit granted, but again, via Brazilian journalist Lucas Pedrosa, a "special talent" work permit application proved unsuccessful by a single point.

Victor Osimhen claim

Napoli star Victor Osimhen looks set to be at the centre of a major transfer battle in the summer as he continues to impress in Serie A.

Both clubs have proven they are not afraid of parting with large sums to acquire players with Todd Boehly breaking the British transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez.

To bring in Osimhen it may have to be broken again but former Chelsea star Mario Melchiot has sent a clear message that the Blues must sign him.
