Chelsea midfielder suffers setback as Ian Maatsen shines for Burnley - Blues loan latest

Nathan Baxter - The Hull goalkeeper is back involved at the KCOM stadium following an ankle injury and trained on Friday but had to settle for a place on the bench as Matt Ingram kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Watford.

Lucas Bergstrom - The Peterborough United goalkeeper fell to a 2-1 defeat against Ipswich with the team now suffering four losses in a row.

Jamie Cumming and Henry Lawrence - Goalkeeper Cumming and defender Lawrence could not prevent MK Dons from falling to a 2-1 loss against Fleetwood Town that ultimately saw head coach Liam Manning sacked. Club owner Peter Winkelman and sporting director Liam Sweeting have yet to appoint a replacement, but the former expects a brave appointment to get the best out of their summer signings

"I'm going to follow that path again. Knowing us, we'll be brave. Knowing us, we'll get criticised for whatever we do. But we are that kind of club, that gives opportunities - that's part of our DNA and that's really what we want to see reflected in our team," said Winkelman.

"The players we signed this year, I was excited about each and every one of them. Whether they've gelled together in the way we hoped and expected, that's obviously not the case. "I am hoping that a new voice, whatever that voice may be, can help everyone get back on track."

Ethan Wady - Was on the bench as Woking fell to a 2-0 defeat against York City.

Malang Sarr - The loanee joined Monaco's training camp in Spain and came off the bench in a draw against Sevilla and will next face Empoli later this week.

Ethan Ampadu - The Welshman broke his silence following Wales' World Cup exit to thank supporters for the role they played. The youngster said: "Thank you to all the fans who supported us throughout. Not the way we wanted it to go but what an honour to represent Wales at the World Cup".

Ampadu returned to training with Spezia at the end of last week on a personalised programme, while his team prepared for their first friendly.

Levi Colwill - The young defender spent time with Brighton in Dubai and settled for a place on the bench in a draw against Aston Villa, as the Seagulls opted to only make three substitutes.

Ian Maatsen - The Dutch full-back had a leading role as Burnley came away with a 3-0 victory over QPR in the Championship. Maatsen netted on the verge of half time, connecting well from an angle to lash the ball in after Seny Dieng made a save.

Sam McClelland - The Barrow loanee remains out injured, but his side saw their game against Carlisle postponed at the weekend.

Baba Rahman - The Ghana international made his return from the World Cup but struggled to match the pace of the game despite Reading's 1-0 win over Coventry.

Dujon Sterling - The young defender was absent from Stoke's squad as they recorded a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.

Tino Anjorin - Having been set to make Huddersfield's starting XI after a long lay-off through illness, Anjorin picked up an injury to prevent his return. Nevertheless, Terriers boss Mark Fortheringham had plenty of kind words for the midfielder, noting the impact of Anorjin's presence on the squad.

He said: “We don’t know. It’s one of those situations where we have to assess it and just chat to the medical guys. It’s disappointing for everyone because Tino has given us all a big lift, just to see him out there expressing himself with his enthusiasm.

“The thing you miss the most is he’s got the quality and he’s a guy who can put the ball in the net as well. You could see we had a lot of opportunities to really stretch the game and sort of put Sheffield United to bed, if you like, but it was probably the final pass or the final decision making where if you have a player like Tino with his confidence…he plays with real dynamic movements and just likes committing players and he’s a nightmare to play against at times.

Fortheringham added: “It’s really sad for Tino: he’s rolled his ankle [on Friday], the day leading up before the game, and we’re going to have to assess that. He’s been doing so well and we had him down to start, and I feel when he’s there in the starting XI there’s a lot more creativity and he’s able to go one-vs-one and bring other people into play."

Tiemoue Bakayoko - The midfielder joined Milan's squad for the training camp in Dubai ahead of their friendly match with Arsenal.

Xavier Simons and Harvey Vale - The duo participated in Hull's mid-season friendly and training camp but were unable to make Leroy Rosenior's squad for the draw with Watford as the Championship made its return.

Romelu Lukaku - Romelu Lukaku made his Inter Milan return to training after a disastrous World Cup with Belgium.

Callum Hudson-Odoi - Having not been present for Bayer Leverkusen's 3-0 defeat to Rangers at the weekend, Hudson-Odoi has returned to training for the Bundesliga side.

Bryan Fiabema - The striker could only earn a place on the bench as Forest Green defeated Cheltenham 1-0, with former Chelsea academy product Myles Peart-Harris scoring the winning goal.

Jayden Wareham - The former Woking forward had the weekend off as Leyton Orient's match against Crewe was postponed.
