Chelsea will consider turning to Carlo Ancelotti to become the next permanent head coach, according to ESPN. The Italian won the Premier League and FA Cup in the 2009/10 season in west London and has continued his success across Europe.
Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have placed Frank Lampard in temporary charge until the end of the season after sacking Graham Potter last weekend. Lampard will oversee the remaining 11 games of the season after leaving Everton in January.
The appointment gives the club hierarchy the opportunity to continue their search for the next manager at Stamford Bridge. Former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are two names said to be in advanced talks with Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho also linked.

Ancelotti's future at Real Madrid has been speculated in recent weeks after losing ground on Barcelona in the La Liga table. Los Blancos are currently 13 points behind their rivals with 11 games left to play, resulting in the tactician's job security coming under threat.
Now, it has been reported that the Italian will be considered to take over at Chelsea should his time at the Santiago Bernabeu come to an end in the summer. ESPN claim that sources have suggested that Ancelotti is in the frame to return to the club due to the uncertainty in Spain.
Ancelotti still has the Champions League to play for - with Chelsea their next opponent in the quarter-final - but the report also states that his position would be under threat should they fail to win the trophy.
The 63-year-old has enjoyed a tremendous career in coaching since retiring. Since leaving Chelsea, he has won the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain, Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, La Liga with Madrid and two Champions League title in 2014 and 2022.
It is believed that the Blues are 'determined to retain the model of a coach working in tandem with a technical director', which Ancelotti has demonstrated throughout his coaching career.
Ancelotti is not the first ex-Chelsea man linked with the job. Antonio Conte and Mourinho have both been mentioned as potential candidates in recent days, though Lampard's recent appointment means the decision will be made in good time.
