Chelsea make Frenkie de Jong transfer decision as Joakim Maehle links gather pace

Chelsea have had a rollercoaster of a summer transfer window so far.

Thomas Tuchel's side have allowed club-record signing Romelu Lukaku to rejoin Inter Milan on loan, whilst centre-backs Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have joined Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively. The Blues have spent in excess of £80 million on two first-team additions in the form of veteran defender Kalidou Koulibaly and English star Raheem Sterling, with additional incomings expected before the window slams shut on September 1st.

Now, football.london has rounded up some of the biggest transfer rumours involving the west Londoners from the last 24 hours.

Frenkie de Jong

Tuchel would like to add a midfielder to his squad before the window slams shut. De Jong appeared to be one of his top targets to fill that role, having previously attempted to sign him while in charge at Paris Saint-Germain.

But the Blues are yet to submit a formal bid for the 25-year-old, with Barca demanding around £67million for his signature. Now, according to Sport, via the Mirror, those high demands could end up scuppering a deal.

Joakim Maehle

Simon Phillips has reported that Chelsea are hoping to sign Maehle for full-back/wing-back cover purposes. This transfer could then have a knock-on effect where at least one of Cesar Azpilicueta or Marcos Alonso will be given the green light to seal a dream move to Barcelona.

Presnel Kimpembe

Chelsea are expected to make a move for Wesley Fofana football.london understands, although the Blues are still monitoring Milan Skriniar, Josko Gvardiol and Frenchman Kimpembe should they need to switch to another target.

Tuchel previously coached Kimpeme during the German's time at PSG, but reports linking the commanding central defender to Stamford Bridge have gone quiet in recent days.

Now, Le10Sport have claimed that Kimpembe has decided to stay with the Ligue 1 outfit rather than leave as he's keen to play under PSG's new head coach Christophe Galtier.
