Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been frustrated with the way the transfer window has gone so far as he tries to revive a team that finished a distant third last season.
But an opening day win over Everton appears to have focused minds at Stamford Bridge with the Blues boss given the green light to add to his three summer signings by the club's new owners after Roman Abramovich's sale.
Flop Timo Werner has returned to RB Leipzig, Marcos Alonso is wanted by Barcelona, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Malang Sarr by Monaco and Callum Hudson-Odoi has suitors at Leicester and Southampton, potentially freeing up squad spaces to give Tuchel room to manoeuvre over the next two weeks.
Here Mirror Sport brings you the best of the Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip around.
Chelsea face competition for Fofana
Chelsea could see their record-breaking £85million transfer bid for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana hijacked by Paris Saint-Germain, talkSPORT reports.
The Foxes centre-back has been on the Blues’ wishlist all summer, but the 2016 Premier League champions have been reluctant to let their young star go. The west London club have bid twice for the defender, with Tuchel looking to bolster his centre-back options following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Their last attempt saw the Blues have a £70m offer rejected by the Foxes. Now, talkSPORT’s football correspondent Alex Crook has confirmed the Blues are readying a £85m bid for the 21-year-old Frenchman, which would be a world-record fee for a centre-back.
Blues chase Italian starlet
Chelsea are preparing another approach for 19-year-old midfielder Cesare Casadei, with Inter Milan now expected to accept a fee of around £12m according to the Standard.
The highly-rated box-to-box player has yet to make his senior professional debut but is regarded as one of the finest young talents at the San Siro after playing for Italy's U19s.
Chelsea have heavily scouted the youngster, who they see as an initial academy signing that they can develop alongside their first team as part of a succession plan for N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, who will both see their deals expire in June 2023. They have had two offers under £10m turned down already but now seem set to make a fresh move.
Chelsea consider Aubameyang offer
Chelsea could bring the former Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to the Premier League according to reports, including in the Telegraph.
Chelsea will decide this week whether to pursue a deal for ex-Arsenal skipper Aubameyang or focus on other transfer targets. The Blues have been linked with the Barcelona forward in recent weeks, as Tuchel seeks to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window closes on September 1.
Chelsea have signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this summer, but Romelu Lukaku has been loaned back to Inter after his disappointing return to Stamford Bridge last season.
