Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel hopes to kick off his Bayern Munich raid of the Blues by bringing Blues assistant coach Anthony Barry to Germany. Tuchel was confirmed as the successor to Julian Nagelsmann in a club statement on Friday by the German giants, which kicked off talk of who the ex-Chelsea boss would want to bring with him to Allianz Arena.
In his official press conference unveiling Tuchel explained how the move came from nowhere before later revealing his desire to bring Barry to Bayern. "The timing was surprising, I didn’t expect it and there was no contact beforehand," he revealed on Saturday. "I assumed that I would continue my career abroad. The first interview was on Tuesday evening.
"My coaching staff wasn’t prepared [to be appointed at Bayern] either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility. Arno Michels and Zsolt Low, who have been working with me for over 10 years, will be there. We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea."

Barry joined the club under the tenure of Frank Lampard and also now works in part for the Portugal national team. Tuchel's interest in securing Barry's services was revealed just a few hours after his appointment and Tuchel's own comments a day later confirmed those reports.
However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are said to be 'disappointed' by the comments of the 49-year-old, because his hope to bring Barry to his new club are now public. There is also another development involving Barry, with Bayern making their formal approach earlier on Sunday.
The Evening Standard added the initial approach from Bayern does not include any financial incentives which would likely be needed to release a staff member who is under contract.
