Chelsea injury update: Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic latest news and return dates

Chelsea have endured mixed injury news this week after losing Thiago Silva for a number of weeks.

The Brazilian’s injury blow was confirmed after he was forced off against Tottenham on the weekend with a knee issue.

However, Chelsea are hoping for better when it comes to Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante’s returns from spells on the sideline.

Cesar Azpilicueta is another being closely monitored by the Blues, who have also recently been without Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy and Armando Broja.

Here is your latest update of Chelsea injuries and return dates...

Thiago Silva

Veteran defender Silva could miss up to six weeks of action, Standard Sport understand, after suffering medial collateral ligament damage in his left knee.

Next month’s Champions League return leg against Borussia Dortmund is off the table and a return after the international break, against Aston Villa on April 1, is perhaps the best-case scenario.

N’Golo Kante

Chelsea will continue to ramp up Kante’s return from a hamstring injury this week, the 31-year-old having last played in August.

Last week, he returned to full squad training with a playing comeback at some point in March being eyed.

Christian Pulisic

An appearance against Leeds on Saturday is being targeted by Pulisic as he continues his return from a knee injury sustained at the start of January.

Standard Sport reported on the ideal retun date last week with Dortmund or Leicester, the following weekend, also potentially on the cards.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea defender Azpilicueta was discharged from hospital last week following his head injury against Southampton, which forced him to miss the defeat to Tottenham.

The club continue to monitor his condition with concussion protocol in effect, ahead of a decision for the Leeds game.

Mateo Kovacic

Graham Potter confirmed after the Spurs game that Kovacic missed out through illness.

An update is expected later in the week as to whether he will recover in time to face Leeds.

Edouard Mendy

Goalkeeper Mendy is nearing a return from surgery on a broken finger suffered at the start of the year.

But the club have been quiet on updating fans over his progress and no return date has been specified.

Armando Broja

Chelsea are expecting to be without academy striker Broja for the rest of the season.

A knee injury picked up in the mid-season break required surgery and a long rehabilitation progress has begun, with a view to him returning for the 2023-24 campaign.
