Chelsea have taken a 25-man squad to their warm-weather training camp in Abu Dhabi, including 12 academy players.
Among the young players to make the trip is Lewis Hall, who made his first Premier League start away at Newcastle just before the break for the World Cup.
New signings Cesare Casadei and Omari Hutchinson are also in the squad.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter is filling gaps, with 11 players either still at the World Cup or taking a break after the tournament having been knocked out.
Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and Christian Pulisic have been eliminated and have immediately gone on holiday.
N’Golo Kante is in the Chelsea squad in Abu Dhabi but is still two months away from a return following hamstring surgery.
Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Wesley Fofana have all travelled to Abu Dhabi and are further along in their recoveries.
The defensive trio aim to return to face Bournemouth on December 27 but their participation in a friendly with Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi on December 11 is not guaranteed.
