Chelsea are reportedly looking to gain an advantage over Manchester United in the race to sign Christopher Nkunku this summer.
The RB Leipzig forward has enjoyed an outstanding season, scoring 31 goals and registering 14 assists across all competitions. The Frenchman’s form saw him beat Robert Lewandowski to be named the Bundesliga’s player of the season, and has led to him being linked with a move to the Premier League.
United have been touted as a possible destination. Reports have suggested the Reds are keeping tabs on Nkunku as they target new forwards during the transfer window.

Chelsea though are also said to be in the running, and reports in France claim they could take a lead in the race to sign the 24-year-old. According to L’Equipe, the Blues intend to steal a march on United as they eye up changes in their attacking quarters.
Nkunku is said to be valued at around £50million, which could bring both United and Chelsea into the running for his signature. The latter will be in a position to make new signings after the takeover by Todd Boehly’s consortium was confirmed this week.
Elsewhere, L’Equipe also provide an update on Paul Pogba’s future, and suggest Paris Saint-Germain are out of the running for the midfielder’s signature. Pogba is of course expected to leave United when his contract expires on June 30.
The France international has been linked with the likes of PSG, Juventus and Real Madrid as he searches for a new club this summer, with Juve thought to be the frontrunner for his signature. They may have received a boost in their efforts, with reports in France suggesting PSG have now pulled out of the running.
The Ligue 1 champions’ new sporting director Luis Campos is said to not be interested in signing the 29-year-old, with Pogba having been a target for previous incumbent Leonardo. That could therefore pave the way for the midfielder to make a return to Juventus.
