Chelsea have already made major £488m transfer statement as Todd Boehly impact revealed

Noni Madueke's confirmed arrival at Chelsea last week took the tally of players bought by the club under Todd Boehly to 15 in just two transfer windows. The major rebuild at Stamford Bridge has certainly begun, in fact it is seemingly closer to its conclusion now that a new player has been signed in nearly every position.

The only roles left needing to fill is right-back and, on a permanent basis, a central midfielder, with Denis Zakaria set to return to Juventus at the end of the season.

Therefore, a new full-back to compete with Reece James along with at least one central midfielder are undoubtedly the next priorities for Chelsea which will likely take their spending to over £500m in less than 12 months, a stat which is mostly dependent on whether or not a midfielder is acquired.

In the right-back slot, the Blues have identified Malo Gusto from Lyon as their main target, with personal terms already agreed, as football.london understands. An opening bid of €20million (£17.6million) was rejected by the French club, but Chelsea are expected to go back into negotiations for the 19-year-old with a second offer between €30-40million (£26.5-35.3million).

Meanwhile, a significant number of names have been linked as a central midfield option with Amadou Onana and Matheus Nunes joining Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, with the latter two as the main January targets.

Even without acquiring players in positions of need this month, Graham Potter has sanctioned six transfers, four of which are forwards. David Datro Fofana, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Madueke have all joined Raheem Sterling in becoming fresh attacking options for Chelsea, as the club hope to solve their attacking woes which place them as the lowest scorers in the top half of the Premier League.

Benoit Badiashile has been added to the defensive recruitment made in the summer with Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana all struggling in their first six months in west London for a number of different reasons.

Add that to several purchases made in the summer and the last few weeks of talent for the future and Chelsea have made significant strides towards a long-awaited club rebuild that a number of other Premier League sides will hope to replicate in the coming years.

Although Potter has taken significant criticism since he took over as manager, with Chelsea currently 10th in the Premier League, the club look set for the coming seasons, as CIES Football Observatory have showcased the financial power displayed recently from the Blues.

Their latest post reads: "Issue 406 of the CIES Football Observatory’s Weekly Post presents the 50 clubs that spent the most on the player market during the current and last summer’s transfer windows.

"Chelsea crushes the competition with €555million (£488.3million) invested (including add-ons) to acquire 15 footballers. This is more than double the amount spent by the second biggest spender: Manchester United (€272million or £239million for 7 players)."
