The future of Mason Mount at Chelsea continues to take regular major twists and the latest update has seen a new Premier League club register an interest. Liverpool have made Mount their priority this summer, football.london understands, but Arsenal could hijack that move with the Gunners eyeing a shock approach for the Chelsea midfielder this summer, according to a report from GOAL.
With Mount's contract up in the summer of 2024, Chelsea must make a decision on his future at the end of the current season. Negotiations have been postponed throughout the campaign but the summer has now been outlined as the time period to discuss terms.
Noticing the fragile state of his immediate future at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool are hoping to capitalise not only on Mount's contract dispute but all the financial worries of Chelsea. An important FFP deadline is fast approaching for Chelsea where they must sell a number of players by June 30 to meet financial regulations.

A homegrown star being sold would count as pure profit on the books which makes exits for Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mount far more likely. The 24-year-old has struggled for minutes this season and Chelsea selling the Cobham graduate could actually prove to be beneficial if his demands over an extension cannot be met.
Arsenal's interest is surprising but it may have given Todd Boehly and Chelsea food for thought given a recent transfer dealing involving Jorginho between the two London rivals. With the Italian's deal up in the summer, the west Londoners were set to lose him on a free but the Gunners swooped in with a £12 million package - £2million of which was in performance related add-ons - during the winter window to acquire his services.
Chelsea and Arsenal have worked together before regarding transfers and there is no reason why they can't do it again if the approach from the Gunners is serious. Mount could also be in favour of a move to Arsenal over anywhere else given he already lives in London.
