Chelsea handed Victor Osimhen transfer update amid Man United, PSG and Bayern Munich interest

Chelsea have been handed an update in the transfer race for Victor Osimhen with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich among the clubs also chasing his signature. The Blues are in desperate need of a new striker with their attacking woes severely prominent this season as their latest Premier League defeat to Brentford further showcased.

Since the arrival of Frank Lampard as interim head coach, Chelsea have scored just one goal, with that strike coming in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton. In 2023, Chelsea have managed just 11 Premier League goals with their season tally at 30. In short, Chelsea need a natural No.9.

One of the options to fill that void is Osimhen at Napoli who has scored 26 goals this season. His contributions and the displays of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have helped Napoli reach the brink of Serie A glory with Luciano Spalletti's side 17 points clear at the top.

Understandably, because of his performances, Chelsea aren't the only major European club interested with PSG, Bayern and Man United all in need of a forward acquisition. With several teams in the battle to sign the 24-year-old, early contact and foundations being laid could prove vital, however Osimhen's camp have squashed any claims that a move is being discussed.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, via Fabrizio Romano, their statement read: "Fake news. It’s early to discuss about a transfer." If the battle becomes too intense this summer or the price too high, Chelsea do already have an alternative striking option in Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian forward's loan spell at former club Inter expires at the end of the season which means Chelsea must make a decision on his future this summer. The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as Blues boss could be the breath of fresh air Lukaku needs for a fresh start in west London.

His temporary departure at the start of the season was filled with bad blood, however, according to the Telegraph, he will be asked if he wishes to be a part of the new Chelsea era expected to be under Pochettino. Chelsea have scheduled a meeting next week with Inter to discuss the future of Lukaku.
