Chelsea handed major Youssoufa Moukoko transfer boost after Borussia Dortmund contract claim

The agent of Chelsea transfer target Youssoufa Moukoko has denied claims over a new deal being close at Borussia Dortmund, claiming the figures mentioned on the striker's renewal aren't correct. It comes as the wonderkid nears the end of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

The 18-year-old appears to be an option followed by the Blues amid his contract dilemma, offering plenty of potential for the future. Moukoko was part of the Germany squad for the recent World Cup, but only managed a couple of minutes from the bench, with experience of the tournament the key reason behind his call up.

The next big decision comes over the youngster's future, having already played a part with 10 goal involvements in 14 appearances during a breakout campaign. With the Germany international's contract expiring in the summer, there's questions over whether a stay at the Signal Iduna Park is the best option.

While Chelsea have been touted as leading the race for his signature - and potentially pushing a move in January over a free transfer in the summer - the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be in the race. A boost to all three was handed to them recently after an admission from the striker's agent.

Moukoko's agent Patrick Williams told Sky Germany: "I can confirm that we are not yet about to sign a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund. I can also assure you that the numbers that are circulating [€5million/€6million (£4.4million/£5.2million) salary] are simply not correct and Youssoufa was never offered that way. But we are still in contact with Borussia Dortmund and will see what the next few days bring."

Those days could be crucial in the future of Moukoko as it could decide as to whether he stays in the Bundesliga or if a move to Chelsea could be on in January or the summer.
