Chelsea begin the new Premier League season at home to champions Manchester City.
Another season, another new era for the Blues as Enzo Maresca has become the fourth permanent manager of the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital regime. Mauricio Pochettno struggled for large periods of his sole season at the helm, but his departure by mutual consent still came as a surprise after a promising run in.
Maresca will have to hit the ground running and Chelsea’s opening fixture will be a blow to the new boss, but the Blues will otherwise be relatively happy with their run in the opening weeks of the season.
Chelsea do not next face a team from last season’s top six until a trip to Liverpool in mid-October. However, that starts a run of Newcastle, Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa before the end of November, with a Leicester reunion for Maresca also thrown into the mix.
The traditional festive period will see Chelsea meet Fulham at home for a feisty Boxing Day treat, with the season concluding at Nottingham Forest.
