Chelsea fans urge Marina Granovskaia to sign £36m star dubbed 'next Steven Gerrard'

Chelsea fans want Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni to join the club before the end of the January transfer window, according to a social media survey.

Over 3000 Blues fans took part in the poll conducted by Sporting Index and 39% expressed that they would like to see the 22-year-old France midfielder join the club.

Stamford Bridge legend Eden Hazard, who moved to Real Madrid in 2019, came second with 31%.

Meanwhile Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, who has been consistently linked with a move to Thomas Tuchel’s side finished third with 22% of the vote.

Reported Chelsea target and Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest was bottom of the four listed players, pooling 8%.

Neville Burdock, head of trading at Sporting Index, said: “Chelsea fans will be hoping that Thomas Tuchel makes a move in the January transfer window soon to bolster his squad before the end of the season, and they’ve made it clear who they’d like as their top target.

“Most Blues supporters (39%) selected Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni as their priority signing, even ahead of re-signing club legend Eden Hazard from Real Madrid – who received 31% of the vote.

“It’s likely it could cost Chelsea up to £50m to sign Tchouameni, but that would be a drop in the ocean in the eyes of their supporters, who feel the French star has the potential to deliver great things at Stamford Bridge.”

Described as a defensive midfielder, Tchouameni is a product of Bordeaux’s academy and made 37 appearances for the club before leaving to join Monaco in a £16 million deal in 2020.

Since arriving at The Stade Louis II he’s gone onto establish himself as one of the continent’s most promising and leading talents.

Tchouameni, who has been likened to Steven Gerrard by Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell, has also been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and is believed to be available for around £50 million.
