Chelsea fans all say the same thing after 'horrible' foul on Joao Felix not given red card

Chelsea supporters are outraged with referee Peter Bankes after Joao Gomes wasn't shown a red card for a 'horrible foul' on Joao Felix in the clash against Wolves. Unfortunately for Frank Lampard, he was unable to pick up three points at the first time of asking as caretaker manager, as the Blues struggled at Molineux.

Despite Chelsea's misfortunes in the west Midlands, Felix was a bright spark for the visitors. Ahead of the fixture, Nelson Semedo publicly warned his teammates of the talent which the 23-year-old possesses.

In an interview with Wolves' official website, the defender said: "He’s a great player and a great guy as well. I really like him as a person, so on Saturday it will be a good battle, but I hope it will be an enjoyable game.

"He’s a very good player so we know that we have to be very careful with him. He’s good with the ball at his feet and we’ve got to be at our best to stop him.

"Between 3pm and 5pm, we won’t be friends, and I’m sure at the final whistle there will be hugs, but he’s my opponent, so during the 90 minutes, we will not be friends."

However, one of Semedo's teammates appeared to have taken his light-hearted advice too literally. Shortly into the second-half, Gomes was pictured lunging into a 'horrible' challenge on Felix with his studs raised on the Chelsea star's knee.

Despite calls for a red card from supporters, the Wolves midfielder was not given his marching orders by the on-field referee, Peter Bankes. Felix was sent off for a similar challenge on his debut for the Blues against Fulham.

So, with that being said, football.london have taken a look at some of the reaction from Chelsea fans on social media following the incident.

@CFCHaddock tweeted: "Even if Chelsea player died on the pitch after gets a horrible foul the English referees would punished them."

@CFC_Alex_ tweeted: "That's basically what Felix got sent off."

@chelseafan_99 tweeted: "Again Chelsea not getting anything from the officiating, what is even the point of Var when its so incredibly selective and often get the wrong call."

@The_Blue_Lions tweeted: "If it was Chelsea on the other side, clearly a red card and a murder case filed."

@Laus1507 tweeted: "So studs to the shin while pulling back by Joao Felix is a straight red but studs straight into the knee is a yellow card? Alright then."

@HusuJr tweeted: "VAR is useless in England… Joao Gomes should’ve seen a straight red for his studs to Joao Felix’ knee and Mitoma was denied a stonewall penalty."
