Chelsea are looking to heavily invest in new signings in the January transfer window, with a new attacker, midfielder, centre-back and right wing-back on the agenda. Benoit Badiashile and David Datro Fofana have both completed moves to Stamford Bridge, with Brazilian talent Andrey Santos expected to become the third arrival in the coming days.
Todd Boehly is monitoring Christopher Vivell's progress in negotiations with Benfica over a deal for Enzo Fernandez. The 21-year-old impressed for Argentina as they won the World Cup in Qatar, winning the Young Player of the Tournament award.
France were unable to retain their status as world champions after losing on penalties against Argentina in the final, despite Kylian Mbappe scoring a historic hat-trick. Chelsea's N'Golo Kante missed out on the tournament after aggravating a hamstring injury he suffered back in August, whilst Christopher Nkunku missed out through injury before agreeing a deal to become a Blues player at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Chelsea have scored just 20 goals in 17 fixtures in the Premier League so far this season, highlighting their struggles in front of goal. Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic both suffered injuries during the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Thursday night, joining Armando Broja on the injury list and leaving Graham Potter's attacking options weakened.
Foot Mercato have revealed that the Blues have now entered the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach and France striker Marcus Thuram. The 25-year-old featured for Les Bleus at the World Cup and his contract with the Bundesliga side expires at the end of the season, meaning he can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs from January - or he could be signed for a bargain price should a club wish to secure a deal for him before the summer.
L'Equipe have linked the striker with a move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, as well as Premier League side Aston Villa, whilst it was revealed in La Repubblica that Manchester United were favourites to land the player. It is not yet known whether Thuram favours a January move, or whether he would prefer to see the season out with Monchengladbach.
Chelsea are prepared to sign players in a number of key areas in an effort to get their season back on track. Thuram has scored 13 goals and provided a further four assists in 17 appearances for the German outfit this season, showing that he would be a huge addition to the Blues' misfiring attack this term.
