Chelsea's summer transfer window has been far from easy so far. The Blues were linked with a number of players during pre-season as the squad reshape began, however only three new signings have made their way through the doors at Cobham so far.
With only a few new faces, Thomas Tuchel is preparing to face Everton in Chelsea's first Premier League game of the season this weekend. The German coach has bemoaned the lack of transfers so far, claiming he is unsure just how competitive his side will be when they start the campaign.
While preparing for the current challenge ahead, there is some consideration to be done over the future shape of the squad as well. Looking towards the next few years has been a recent theme of Todd Boehly's transfer business, with 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina joining from Chicago Fire and a fee being agreed with Aston Villa for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

There's plenty more focus on the future to come, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that the Blues are interested in Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei. The 19-year-old has been tipped for big things, with the youngster a potential ideal target for the future of the Chelsea central ranks.
With Jorginho and N'Golo Kante both out-of-contract in one-year, there could be some uncertainty surrounding the first-team midfield structure. Another player who has been a long-term target is Declan Rice, who would be more likely to go straight into the starting lineup over the wonderkid options.
The former Cobham academy player has impressed at West Ham, becoming a regular for both club and country. With a dwindling contract, the England international could be set for a move to Chelsea and may be joined by the likes of Casadei and Chukwuemeka in the future.
