Chelsea exit for Graham Potter assistant Billy Reid but rest of coaching staff staying put for now

Assistant coach Billy Reid has left Chelsea, but the rest of Graham Potter’s staff are staying put at Stamford Bridge for now.

Manager Potter was axed by the Blues on Sunday night after less than seven months in charge, a little over 24 hours after a dismal 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa in the Premier League.

That was the 11th loss in 31 matches under Potter, who had been poached from high-flying Brighton at a significant cost in September as a replacement for the sacked Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea are languishing in 11th place in the top-flight and 12 points adrift of the top four with only 10 games left to play this season and made swift exits from both domestic cup competitions, though do have a massive two-legged Champions League quarter-final tie with holders Real Madrid on the horizon.

With the process of recruiting the third boss of the new Todd Boehly-Clearlake ownership era already now underway, Bruno Saltor has been placed in temporary charge of Chelsea first-team affairs - starting with the small matter of Tuesday night’s home clash against Liverpool.

The Spaniard was one of several members of Potter’s Brighton staff to follow him to Chelsea earlier this term, along with assistant Reid, first-team coach Bjorn Hamberg and recruitment analyst Kyle Macaulay.

However, while Bruno, Hamberg and Macaulay all remain at the Bridge for now, Reid has followed Potter through the exit door.

Another assistant, Anthony Barry, is currently staying away from the club while Bayern Munich attempt to agree a compensatory fee that would allow the former Wigan coach to reunite with Tuchel in the Bundesliga.
