Chelsea face serious competition from Liverpool and Manchester City in the race to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window. The Blues have strengthened their defence in the last two transfer windows, signing Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.
The Blues attempted to sign the Croatia international last summer but saw their proposals rebuffed by Leipzig, who went on to agree a contract extension with Gvardiol until 2027. The Croatian defender was a standout performer at the World Cup in Qatar, helping his nation reach the semi-finals, with the Reds and City now expected to battle Chelsea for his signature ahead of next season.
Real Madrid have also been linked with the 21-year-old who has already hinted that he would like to play for the Spanish giants later in his career. Gvardiol admitted in a recent interview that he supported Liverpool as a child with the club 'still in his heart', leaving the Blues with the task of convincing him to snub a move to Anfield in favour of a switch to Stamford Bridge.
