Mason Mount could be moving ever closer to a move to Liverpool in the summer after Chelsea' Champions League exit means a reported 30 per cent pay cut for some of the squad.
The England international is not thought to be one of those players due to take a cut in his wage as he is yet to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge despite soon entering the final year of his current contract.
Chelsea were dumped out of the Champions League by Real Madrid on Tuesday night and are currently 11th in the Premier League. A new bonus system put in place by owner Todd Boehly means that those who have joined or signed new deals since the American took over will have their wages slashed.

If Mount was to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, he would have to accept a 30 per cent cut in his wages due to the team's failure to qualify for the Champions League.
The 24-year-old reportedly earns £80,000 a week at Chelsea and is said to be keen on securing a deal worth £250,000 to stay in West London. Mount is thought to have recently rejected a contract offer worth £200,000 a week, according to the Express.
In a time where Boehly is needing to cut player wages at Chelsea, it seems unlikely Mount will have his contract demands met. Due to this, it is likely Mount will be sold in the summer rather than allowed to leave for free in 2024 and Jurgen Klopp is believed to be at the front of the queue for the midfielder.
Mount has been at Chelsea since the age of six, but it is believed he is keen to work under Klopp at Liverpool if he does not reach an agreement on a new contract at Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer.
