Chelsea 'confident' of completing staggering $101m transfer as Kylian Mbappe 'agreement' reached

Welcome to the football.london transfer briefing. To help you keep on top of all things Chelsea going on in the market we've got the latest noises coming from social media, journalists and so-called ITKs, rounding up what's what in the world of the Blues.

Chelsea make Moises Caicedo move

Chelsea are confident of completing a transfer for Moises Caicedo for much less than the £100million ($127m) asking price from Brighton, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Whilst the Seagulls are demanding a huge fee for the 21-year-old, dictated by Declan Rice's move to Arsenal and the £105million ($133.4m) price paid for him, it is said that the Blues are hopeful of completing a deal for closer to £70million ($88.9m) with £10million ($12.7m) in add-ons and some loans to sweeten the deal.

Romano also reports that Chelsea are currently the only side in talks with Caicedo currently and that talks are advancing in a positive direction.

football.london says: For Chelsea, it is good news that they are the only side in this because Caicedo is a unique player. There aren't too many that can combine his physicality with technical quality, skill to defend and in-possession play as well as youthfulness.

Whilst everyone else makes their own signings in midfield, Caicedo is still waiting for a second official bid to be made but given the talks between the two clubs over Levi Colwill and the open chains of communication, the Blues are in the clear it seems.

There is still a long way to go but having seen Mykhailo Mudryk's price dictated by the wider footballing transfers, Chelsea will be set on not allowing the same to happen here with Caicedo. Either way, to complete a move for a player of his quality would be staggering and to do it for comfortably less than they signed Enzo Fernandez for would be a big boost at the same time.

Kylian Mbappe 'agreement'

Paris Saint-Germain believe that Kylian Mbappe has already agreed to join Real Madrid next summer, according to Sky Sports. The player signalled his intent to leave the Parisiens earlier this year, indicating that he would not be remaining at the club past his 2024 contract.

Chelsea have been long-term admirers of Mbappe and were strongly linked with making a move for him when it became apparent that things in France were far from simple. Mbappe is now expected to leave the club in the coming 12 months but at which stage, it is not clear.

football.london says: Mauricio Pochettino would love to be reunited with Mbappe, right? Chelsea need a striker, Mbappe is on the move and frankly, if it comes down to a free transfer he is unlikely to choose Stamford Bridge over some of the potential destinations.

In this case, it only makes sense that Chelsea try and secure something in this window if possible. The issue is that really, that is out of the equation. PSG are determined to keep him for as long as they can, Mbappe himself has said he is not pushing for an exit immediately and Chelsea, well they don't have Champions League football.

What is apparent is that whilst the World Cup winner has his future up in the air, Chelsea will continue to be linked and that alone is exciting.
