Chelsea and Tottenham full list of potential Champions League group stage opponents ahead of draw

The 2022/23 campaign is up and running, and teams across Europe are preparing for this season's Champions League.

Spanish giants Real Madrid overcame Liverpool in last season's final, while Eintracht Frankfurt beat Rangers in the Europa League final on penalties to secure their place in the Champions League this season.

Chelsea secured their spot in Europe's elite tournament after finishing third in the Premier League last season, while Tottenham Hotspur ended their three-year absence from the competition by beating north London rivals Arsenal for the last spot in the Premier League.

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic join four English clubs in the group stage, and their fellow Scottish Premiership side Rangers are just one game away from joining them.

But who else is competing in this season's Champions League? football.london takes a look...

Premier League:

Four Premier League sides will compete in the Champions League group stage, with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all qualifying for the competition.

As a result of finishing inside the top four of the Premier League last season, the four English clubs all secured their spot in this season's tournament.

Manchester City won the league title last season while Liverpool finished second, Chelsea came third and Spurs ended up fourth.

LaLiga:

Real Madrid, who won the LaLiga title last campaign, received automatic qualification after winning the Champions League final last season. Carlo Ancelotti's side defeated Liverpool 1-0 in Paris in May, thanks to Vinícius Júnior's second-half strike.

Joining them in qualifying for this season's competition as a result of their respective league finish were Barcelona (2nd), Atletico Madrid (3rd) and Sevilla (4th).

Bundesliga:

Germany has had four automatic group-stage places in the Champions League since 2018/19, meaning the teams that finish in the top four compete in the following season's tournament.

Bayern Munich qualified as Bundesliga champions, with runners-up Borussia Dortmund, third-placed Bayer Leverkusen and fourth-placed RB Leipzig joining them.

However, as Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League last season - defeating Rangers in the final - they earned a place in the Champions League group stage this campaign. As a result, the Bundesliga will have five teams in Europe's elite competition for the first time.

Serie A:

AC Milan secured their first Serie A title in 11 years last season and cemented their place in the Champions League. The Rossoneri will be joined by Milan rivals Inter, as well as Juventus - who finished fourth in the league table after an underwhelming season - and Napoli.

Ligue 1:

The top three teams in Ligue 1 qualify for the Champions League, with the top two proceeding directly to the group phase, while the third-placed team enters in the third qualifying round.

Paris Saint-Germain qualified after convincingly winning the league title last season, while Marseille earned their spot as a result of finishing second in Ligue 1.

Monaco, who finished third in France's top-flight division, were knocked out of the Champions League at the qualifying stages by Dutch side PSV earlier this month.

Liga Portugal:

Sérgio Conceição's Porto side won the Liga Portugal title by six points last season. They qualified for the Champions League as league champions, league Sporting CP - who finished in second position - joined them in qualifying.

Other leagues:

Eredivisie champions Ajax, Austrian Football Bundesliga winners RB Salzburg, Belgium champions Club Brugge, Scottish Premiership winners Celtic and Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk make up the rest of the teams who have already qualified for the 2022/23 Champions League group stage. Croatian league's Dinamo Zagreb, Danish top division's FC Copenhagen and Scottish Premier League's Rangers joined as the remaining teams from the second set of play-offs.
