Cheetham Hill Road: nine traffic offences recorded in one hour by police

Nine traffic offences in one hour were reported by police monitoring a busy A-road in north Manchester on Thursday evening.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Transport Unit carried out speed enforcements checks on Cheetham Hill Road. Officers completed nine Traffic Offence Reports in the space of one hour.

One vehicle was recorded by police travelling at 57mph in a 30mph zone. Two uninsured vehicles were also seized.

A tweet from GMP Cheetham & Crumpsall at 1.57am on Friday said: "#GMPTransportUnit conducted speed enforcement on Cheetham Hill Road yesterday evening. Over the space of an hour 9 Traffic Offence Reports were completed, the highest offender being at 57mph in 30mph and 2 vehicles seized for no insurance."

Uninsured drivers can face a fixed penalty of £300 and six points on their licence. In cases that go to court uninsured motorists could be hit with an unlimited fine and face disqualification from driving.
