A new restaurant focused almost exclusively on cheese is opening in a former maternity ward in Redland. The Cheese Platter on Redland Hill will serve a high-quality dining experience with a menu that champions local produce and offer a unique customisation twist for diners.
Joshua Doyle, 37, is a former English and media studies teacher who after 13 years realised that the profession was no longer for him and instead will launch a distinctive new dining concept. The Cheese Platter will be his first venture into the culinary world and has set his sights on Bristol for his first restaurant.
“Bristol’s reputation is probably the premier food capital of the country for me. Certainly, for me as far as cheese is concerned with the restaurant being cheese-based,” said owner Josh, who is “blessed” to be setting up in the city. “It’s all about people who appreciate food and good cheese and I think the south west is certainly the spiritual home of cheese and the actual home of a lot of cheeses, too.”
