Cheapest and most expensive areas in Scotland to rent a flat named

The cheapest and most expensive places in Scotland to rent a flat have been named in a new study.

Dundee was named the cheapest in the country, while the capital was found to be, perhaps unsurprisingly, the most expensive.

The research by Karpiak Caravan analysed the most populated areas in the UK and used data from Numbeo to find where tenants can rent an apartment at the lowest cost.

The analysis was based on prices for one-bed apartments and three-bed apartments both in the city centre and outside of the city.

The study revealed that the City of Discovery is the most affordable area in Scotland (and 8th UK wide) for tenants, with an average cost of £636.43 per month.

Dundee offers tenants the lowest apartment prices in Scotland when it comes to a one-bedroom apartment in the city centre at £462.50 and a three-bed apartment in the city centre costing only £889.29 as a monthly average.

Aberdeen was named 10th on the list with an average of £661.87 .

Edinburgh meanwhile, was found on the most expensive in the UK shortlist, coming 8th overall and first in Scotland with an average of £1,053.16.

Commenting on the study, a spokesperson from Karpiak Caravan said: “With the current cost-of-living crisis at an all-time high, it is now more important than ever for UK residents to manage their money effectively.

"This study offers a useful breakdown of the most cost-effective locations and types of renting, providing the best options for those looking to rent.”
