The environmental impact is the second-most popular reason for driving an electric vehicle, with 30% of drivers purchasing them to reduce their carbon emissions.
More than two thirds, 69%, of Irish drivers said the initial purchase cost is their main concern with electric vehicles.
Availability and ease of charging points as well as range anxiety are also among drivers' concerns.
More than two thirds, 67%, of Irish motorists think driving a hybrid vehicle is a steppingstone in the journey to getting a fully electric car.
Karl Connolly, Audience Manager at Carzone, said: “Carzone has seen an obvious shift in the attitude towards electric vehicles and living a more sustainable lifestyle.
"Whilst the interest is rising, we know many motorists are still nervous about making the switch.
"That’s why we are delighted to announce the launch of the Carzone Electric Spotlight series.
"The series hosted by Jo Linehan will really break down that information and answer all the questions people may have about electric and hybrid vehicles.
"If you are looking to make the switch, Carzone has got you covered with a wide variety of new and used electric and hybrid cars to choose from.”
