Although the theatre show on everyone’s lips this month has been Hamilton, after thousands bagged tickets to see the show in it’s 15-week Manchester run later this year - there are still dozens of shows to keep you thoroughly entertained if you simply can’t wait that long to be sat in the stalls of Manchester’s best-loved theatres.
And this April, theatre-goers will have the chance to see a Pussycat Doll, a Strictly professional, or even a Casualty star as celebrities are taking over the Palace Theatre and Opera house.
And you don’t have to break the bank for a night out in the city centre, either, with some tickets available from as little as £13, depending where you choose to sit.

If you fancy a last minute trip out, My Fair Lady is running at the Palace Theatre until April 1, with some affordable £13 tickets on offer as part of the ATG Price Promise. The multi-award winning production has been in town for two weeks following a critically acclaimed West End run.
But straight after that, from April 3-15, is The Bodyguard, starring The Pussycat Dolls’ Melody Thornton. The smash hit musical stars the Grammy-nominated singer as Rachel Marron, who will perform hits from the late singer Whitney Houston, including I Will Always Love You and I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
The romantic thriller sees former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, hired to protect superstar Rachel from an unknown stalker. Tickets are priced at £22.50 and can be found on the ATG website here.
Over at the Opera House, there are no fewer than eight shows this month, including a sold out evening with Priscilla Presley, as well as Ryan Adams’ solo tour, where tickets are upwards of £50.
On Wednesday, April 19, there’s the Official RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Four tour, followed by The Buddy Holly Story from April 20.22.
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing may also enjoy Johannes Radebe - Freedom Unleashed, from £22.50, held on April 26, which the TV dancing sensation has described as ‘a party like no other’.
Later on in the month, there’s also Steve Steinman’s Anything For Love - The Meat Loaf Story, or how about a Country Night In Nashville? But to top April off, on Sunday 30, there’s Menopause the Musical 2, starring Mary Byrne (X Factor), Jessica Martin (Copycats), Rebecca Wheatley (Casualty) and Susie Fenwick (West End Star).
Just over the way in Salford, The Lowry will host Dick and Dom in da Bungalow 20th anniversary tour - apologies to anyone who now feels incredibly old - as well as Mog The Forgetful Cat, if you’re looking for something to do with the little ones this Easter half term.
Similarly, there’s Mother Goose, starring Sir Ian McKellen and comic John Bishop, with tickets from as little as £10.
The story sees a woman befriend a magical goose that provides her with Golden Eggs, with a deeper moral story about how beauty and wealth fail to bring happiness.
The show has been described by critics as ‘a total hoot’ that will make you honk out loud, promising ‘fairies with hefty vocal chords, puppets with tap dance qualifications and impeccably constructed mayhem’ perfect for all ages.
You can find out more about what’s on at The Lowry here.
