With schools now out for the summer holidays, family getaways are at the top of many people’s minds. Perhaps the recent heatwave has tempted you to change your mind about booking a holiday for the summer, and it’s not too late to secure your place.

Although the country is at the peak of the holiday season, you may be surprised about the discounted budget holidays still available to book. A quick scour of many travel company’s websites, such as Love Holidays, discovered some amazing family holiday packages ready to be snapped up.

The search was for a week’s break for a family of four (two adults, two children), flying from East Midlands Airport. Here is a selection of what was found.

Holidays don’t necessarily have to be done as packages. The Skyscanner website shows the cheapest flights to all corners of the globe, with many bucket-list locations being found here.

In August, return flights to Marseille, France, start from £60, Amsterdam, Netherlands, from £60, Faro, Portugal, from £62 and Milan, Italy, from £65. Further afield, it’s many people’s dream to visit America, and, although none of them are direct from East Midlands (often having to stop in Dublin), return flights to New York will set you back £528, £534 for Miami, £587 for Chicago and £641 for Las Vegas.

If the holiday is booked in two halves, the recommendation is to pay for it using a credit card. This should ensure that if anything goes wrong you will benefit from enhanced purchase protection under the terms of the Consumer Credit Act.
