Charlotte Crosby hits back at 'beige' play area criticism as mam Letitia says 'people need to calm down'

Charlotte Crosby has made light of being hit with criticism from a small number of fans over a new play area for her daughter Alba Jean.

The former Geordie Shore star, 33, showed off the new "play corner" in her house for seven-month-old Alba, which included a playhouse, ball pit, climbing arch and personalised chair for the tot. "I'm so in love with this area," Charlotte said. "A big open and empty space is now filled with love and happiness."

Many of Charlotte's followers loved the set-up, branding it "gorgeous", "beautiful", "adorable" and "so cute". But some were quick to criticise the beige and white colour scheme, with a string of people leaving negative comments on the video.

"All the money in the world and you give her the blandest, most boring space," one person said.

Someone else remarked: "Very cute, but kids actually need colour."

But Charlotte quickly poked fun at the comments in a video shared on her Instagram Stories, showing her mam Letitia holding baby Alba. "Why have you dressed so beige today mam?" she jokingly asked.

"Well, I know people don't like beige," Letitia responded, gesturing at Alba's new toys. "But we really like it - it's summery, and it just goes with everything. You hide the colour and bring it out."

Charlotte then panned the camera to a range of colourful books and toys littered across the floor. Letitia added: "People need to calm down."

And Charlotte later posted a series of sweet photos of herself, Jake and Letitia with little Alba, alongside the cheeky caption: "Just a bunch of photos of people being beige, brown and boring. Or should we say beige, brown and boujee - you decide."

Meanwhile, plenty of fans came to Charlotte's defence in the comments section. "Here come the colour police," one person joked.

"Everyone calm down, Alba Jean isn't stuck in this area 24/7, she will experience the big wide world more than most babies/children," another fan pointed out.

Someone else argued: "Everyone moaning about colour - I'm sure the baby has lots of colourful toys to play with! This is a purpose built play area in a main area of the house that will be visible ALL THE TIME so it’s totally reasonable for the parent to not want it to be garish to look at."

And another fan praised: "The room is stunning. She's a very lucky girl, her smile is everything in the little window of her playhouse. You're an amazing mum Charlotte."
