Charlie Savage took inspiration from two Manchester United legends before impressive pre-season

Charlie Savage reportedly studied game footage of Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick during lockdown whilst also setting up his own gym at the house of his father, Robbie Savage.

According to The Times, Savage had wanted to gain strength in a bid to impress his coaches. Two years on, Savage found himself on tour with the senior squad, impressing during United's 4-0 demolition of Liverpool.

Savage showcased his superb passing ability as he zipped the ball across the turf, looking at ease while sharing the pitch with Premier League stars.

The Wales Under-19 international realised he needed to improve his strength, and so during lockdown he set up a home gym whilst watching footage of Carrick and Scholes to see how they received the ball before moving it on quickly up the field.

Savage has been linked with a loan move away from the club this summer, with United reportedly wanting to see him perform in the Championship after James Garner performed so well with Nottingham Forest last season.
