Charlie Kirk's mother, Kathryn Kirk, has rejected claims of a rift with his widow, Erika Kirk, saying the family supported Erika's appointment to lead Turning Point USA after his death.

In a Vanity Fair profile published on 29 September, Kathryn addressed the family relationship and online speculation that followed Charlie's killing. The magazine described the interview as the first time she had spoken to the media.
