Charlie Kirk's assassination marks its first anniversary as the man accused of killing the conservative activist moves closer to trial, bringing renewed attention to a case that shocked US politics and intensified concerns over political violence.

Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on 10 September 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
