Charlie Adam brands Rangers Celtic lockout 'shambolic' as he insists Gers players will 'handle' it

Charlie Adam has slammed the lockout of away fans at the Old Firm derby as 'shambolic'.

But the former Rangers star believes Michael Beale's side can handle the pressure of a capacity Parkhead crowd made up of only Celtic fans. Beale's men travel to the east end of Glasgow in search of a win at the ground for the first time in nearly three years, with Ange Postecoglou's league leaders seemingly unwilling to stop in their pursuit of the title.

Rangers have yet to best their bitter rivals this season, and with a showpiece Scottish Cup semi-final on the horizon, but Adam insists Beale's men will be fully focused on what occurs on the pitch. He's backing his former side to give a good account of themselves despite the odds stacked against them.

He told PLZ Soccer: "I think the no fans situation has become a shambolic thing over the last few years.

"I was fortunate enough to play at Celtic Park and Ibrox when it was full for both supporters. It's taken a bit of the shine away from the game.

"But the clubs have made the decision for the next two games. The Rangers players will need to handle it because they don't have that away support.

"It will be difficult for the Rangers players but they've been in that position many times before in previous years. They can only focus on what happens on the pitch. If they perform well, they give themselves a chance of winning the match."
