The Charli xcx vs Sky Ferreira drama has deepened with the Brat singer’s management officially responding to claims that she used Ferreira’s old demos in her recent album, Wuthering Heights.
In a statement to Billboard, Charli xcx’s management addressed the scathing claims Ferreira made regarding the use of her “old songs”.
“Charli has made seven albums, four mixtapes and one EP, and has written countless songs for other artists throughout her career. She began as a songwriter with “I Love It,” and her work has been recorded by and pitched to multiple artists,” the statement began.
“She has her own personal history with publishing and production negotiations, and because of this, she always shares credits fairly and appropriately, and values her collaborators tremendously.”

Further in the statement, Charli’s management said that ahead of the Wuthering Heights album, a “small number of tracks” went under a “standard review process” as it included “fragments of material originating from earlier sessions”.
“This process involved managers, legal representatives, artists and producers, and included a thorough review of archival materials and demo recordings,” her management added.
“All relevant parties were consulted throughout, and the album was played in full in advance of release to everyone. Songwriting credits and splits were determined and agreed collectively in writing, with reference to documented timelines and contributions.
“All credits were finalised and formally approved by the appropriate parties prior to the album’s release.”
Charli has yet to respond directly to the claims. However, her team confirmed to the publication that the “Chains of Love” singer is filming a movie in Kyoto and is wrapping up her new album.

What did Sky Ferreira say regarding her “old songs”?
About five weeks ago, the “Everything is Embarrassing” singer responded to a meme about her recent collaboration with Charli on the Wuthering Heights album.
The meme said: “Charli getting Sky Ferreira in the studio for Wuthering Heights.”
In response, Ferreira wrote, “To record my old songs******”.

However, the claims reached boiling point over the weekend after X user Leon (@skyferrori) made a meme pondering “her form of income”.
Heading to Leon’s Instagram account, Ferreira set the record straight on how she gets her money, revealing to Leon that “someone sent me to your X account”.
“I toured for years. I work. I hate to break it to you, but your favourite artists record my old songs. I hope that answers your question,” she commented.
In a now-deleted tweet, Leon claimed “asked [an] industry insider about the Sky X Charli” allegations.
According to Leon’s insider, they claimed Charli xcx’s “Eyes Of The World” and the “Chains Of Love” intro were taken from Ferreira’s “Ancient Idols”, and that “Altars” was originally a 2015 demo from Ferreira.
Ferreira is credited as an artist, co-writer and vocal producer on “Eyes Of The World”, which was a part of Charli’s 2026 Wuthering Heights album.

In response to the deleted tweet, Ferreira commented, “Your industry ‘insider’ is wrong. Close but wrong”.
“I’m not going to get into it, but it was definitely more than an intro. I have proof of everything with dates. It isn’t worth the trouble [because] I know how the world works,” she continued.

In another lengthy IG comment, the Ghost singer said she was “over being dragged and humiliated for no reason”.
“It brought back a lot of things I have worked really hard to move past,” Ferreira penned.

At the time of writing, Ferreira hasn’t responded to Charli’s management. However, fans are left in a tizzy, especially since both of the singers are so beloved and have a history of collaborating prior to Ferreira’s claims.
