Charley Webb has had to deny she is pregnant after a sweet birthday video was mistaken for a 'gender reveal'. The former Emmerdale actress took to Instagram to mark her husband's birthday on Thursday (May 5).
The Debbie Dingle star marked her husband Matthew Wolfenden's 42nd birthday by popping a confetti cannon in their garden with their three children - 12-year-old Buster, Bowie, six, and two-year-old Ace.
It showed the family-of-five dressed in their pyjamas and dressing gowns as they marvelled at the raining confetti. "Happy birthday @matthewwolfenden55," Charley simply captioned the post.
However, the 34-year-old's hundreds of thousands of followers and friends thought it was a gender reveal and that it was their way of announcing baby number four was on the way.
Charley, from Bury, was quick to set the record straight. She shared a video to her Instagram Story of her feet as she walked through her home in Ugg boots. She wrote: "2 things. 1 - That is not a gender reveal, I've had 58,013 messages. Sorry about that." She then swiftly moved on: "2 - When does the heatwave start?"
Matthew, who plays Emmerdale's David Metcalfe, was also treated to a message from his co-star and on-screen girlfriend Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Barton in the ITV soap. She shared a video of Matthew driving while Daft Punk's Around the World played in the car while a snap showed Matthew sat in a child's seat attached to a bicycle and another of him portraying David in a hospital scene, complete with a medical gown.
She also shared a throwback snap of the pair from way back in 2013 alongside a gushing tribute. "Happy birthday @matthewwolfenden55 To this brilliant human who makes me laugh every single day," before adding: "I love you," alongside a photo of Matthew looking very fed up in an orange beanie hat and grey t-shirt.
Earlier this week Charley baffled fans when she shared the sweet way her husband of four years had prepped his family for their morning. There were bowls, cups and a milk frother all with a scrap bit of paper on top with a note on what they needed to do. One note said: "For Bowie, just add milk. Daddy x," while the one on the cup read: "Buster, just add hot water. Dad x."
But according to Charley, fans were quick to point out a change one of the messages as the dad-of-three referred to himself in the note to his two-year-old son, Ace, just as 'Matthew'. Taking to her Instagram Story later, the Debbie Dingle actress filmed a video in her car and said to her 562,000 followers: "I've had so many messages saying why does Matthew's note say to Ace 'Love Matthew' and not 'Daddy'...
"That is because Ace decided that he wasn't going to call him daddy anymore. He calls him Matthew. Not all the time... but probably 95% of the time and because he knows that Matty doesn't like it, he does it even more. It's quite funny."
