Charles to be proclaimed King at St James’s Palace after monarch pays tribute to ‘darling mama’

King Charles III will officially be proclaimed sovereign at a historic ceremony at St James’s Palace on Saturday morning, as the nation continues to mourn the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

Televised for the first time in its history, the Accession Council meeting at 10am will show the King being formally proclaimed monarch with Charles making his declaration and oath.
