Charities are building up to a cracking Easter thanks to construction firm donations

A leading Paisley construction group has made sure charities are in for an egg-stra special Easter.

Bosses at the JR Group have handed over more than 1,000 of the chocolate treats to a selection of small organisations ahead of the Easter weekend.

The Sandyford-Road based outfit improved on last year's charity donation of 800 eggs, by handing over the confections - which were donated from big-hearted staff across the business, as well as suppliers and sub-contractors.

Seven different charities across Glasgow, Ayrshire, Fife and West Lothian benefitted as the haul was distributed, in a bid to ensure as many children as possible don't have to face Easter without a treat.

The donation was shared between Shettleston Growing Project, Team Jak Foundation in Livingston, Ayr Boswell Kids’ Football Club, The Cottage Family Centre in Fife, Kindness Homeless Street Team in Glasgow, Cherry Tree Nursery in Ayr and Dumbarton Road Corridor Youth Project in Yoker.

Gayle O’Hear, the company's construction administration manager said: "It’s amazing to build on last year’s donation with even more Easter eggs collected. We’re delighted to be able to gift more than 1,000 chocolate eggs ahead of the school holidays thanks to our kind-hearted team members, suppliers and subcontractors.

"Unfortunately, there are so many children living in difficult circumstances who, without help from local charities and foodbanks, may go without a simple Easter treat that so many take for granted.

"We’re proud to play our part in ensuring as many kids as possible will benefit from our donation and would like to thank everyone who contributed."

She added: “We’ve had such wonderful feedback from the beneficiaries of the donations, and we’re proud to make even a small difference to the children who benefit from the work of each of the charities in Glasgow, Fife, Ayrshire and West Lothian."

The JR Group employs around 200 staff. Founded in Govan in 1995, it grew from a scaffolding business to become one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland, operating throughout Scotland and Northern England working on behalf of a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, registered social landlords and private clients.
