The Colts will have someone new under center when they face the Chargers next Monday night.
Indianapolis’ interim head coach Jeff Saturday announced that Nick Foles will be the starter over Matt Ryan.
This decision to bench Ryan in favor of Foles came after the Colts found themselves as the victim of the biggest comeback in NFL history in their 39-33 loss to the Vikings in Week 15.
Ryan, whose 202 season is likely over, had 14 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
Foles is best known for his time with the Eagles, filling in for an injured Carson Wentz and leading them to a Super Bowl victory in 2017. He then got Philadelphia back in the playoffs the following year after another injury to Wentz.
After his time with the Eagles, Foles went on to start 12 games between the Bears and Jaguars from 2019 to 2021.
In his 11-year career, Foles has thrown for 14,003 yards with 82 touchdowns to 43 interceptions and a completion percentage of 62.4.
