A violent and chaotic incident unfolded on Tuesday morning during rush hour traffic on the LBJ Freeway in Dallas. The incident involved a Plano man, 26-year-old Angel Zamora Moreno, who allegedly triggered a series of violent events that shocked witnesses and motorists.
According to reports, Moreno's rampage began when he sideswiped several cars and an 18-wheeler, disabling his own vehicle. When motorists stopped to assess the damage, Moreno reportedly retrieved an 8-inch fixed-blade knife from his trunk and began attacking people.
Witnesses described Moreno jumping on a driver's windshield and causing damage before escalating the situation further. Moreno then allegedly hijacked multiple vehicles, including a TxDOT truck, and ran over a medical professional who had stopped to help an injured worker.
Despite attempts by witnesses to intervene, Moreno continued his erratic behavior until several individuals were able to subdue him until police arrived on the scene. Moreno was subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and criminal mischief. He was later transferred to the Dallas County Jail.
Authorities have not disclosed any prior criminal history for Moreno, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. The shocking events that transpired on the LBJ Freeway serve as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of such situations and the importance of community members coming together to ensure public safety.
