Channel 4 set to reduce workforce by a quarter with hundreds to lose their jobs

  • Channel 4 is set to cut between 300 and 325 jobs, representing roughly a quarter of its workforce, in one of the largest redundancy rounds in the broadcaster's 43-year history.
  • The planned job cuts follow the appointment of chief executive Priya Dogra in March, coming just two years after 200 positions were eliminated under former CEO Alex Mahon.
  • London-based roles are expected to bear the brunt of the redundancies as part of a pledge to shift focus and increase staffing in the UK's nations and regions.
  • A spokesperson for Channel 4 confirmed that the broadcaster is conducting a comprehensive review of its structure and strategy, promising to inform staff directly before making public statements.
  • The reductions follow similar cost-cutting measures across the sector, including the BBC's decision to axe 2,000 jobs , which drew sharp criticism from veteran presenter David Dimbleby.
