A Channel 4 series paid adult content creators to romp with contestants - but hid their backgrounds from viewers.
The Mail Online reports that producers for Open House recruited single women and couples with a background in making pornographic content to have sex with couples who were interested in expanding the boundaries of their relationships.
The pretence of Open House: The Great Sex Experiment is "committed couples come to a luxury retreat to explore whether having open relationships and sex with other people can strengthen their bond".
It has also been described as a "social experiment" with "every day British couples" by the broadcaster.
Couples come to a sprawling manor house for a two day stay. Upon arrival, they speak to sex therapist Dr Lori Beth Bisbey about their sexual desires and fantasies, before having a chance to act upon them that night with the "sexually liberated" residents.
The residents were all paid expenses for their time on the programme, with a rep for Tinopolis (the parent company of Firecracker TV who made the show) telling the Mirror: "The series offers insight into an increasingly popular alternative to monogamy in a non-judgemental way and features participants who are exploring opening up their relationships within a safe and supportive environment.
"Everyone who took part in the series was fully background checked before being cleared to take part, and everyone (couples and residents) received a set per diem to cover expenses during filming."
Episodes have included a man wanting to watch his girlfriend have sex with another man, exploring bisexuality and setting up threesomes. The show has also aired a fifteen person orgy, a television first.
One of the OnlyFans stars who was paid expenses to be on the show told the Mail that they had had a great time filming the show over two weeks, most of which was spent "chilling" at the posh location.
Nicole Williams said: "We filmed last September and lived on site for two weeks. It was the best time of my life, it was amazing. I made friends for life on it.
"Most of the residents have an OnlyFans background and for most of the time we were just chilling in the house. A few people in the house were making big money from OnlyFans - but I just do it part time."
Reps for Channel 4 have been approached for comment.
