Channel 4: Kate Humble’s 30-year marriage to famous childhood sweetheart, not wanting kids and getting naked in Wales

Kate Humble has appeared as an almost permanent fixture on British television since she made her first appearance as a presenter of BBC's Animal Park back in 2001.

Familiar to those with a passion for nature/wildlife, the 53-year-old is now perhaps best know for her work as a host on the likes of Winterwatch and Springwatch, putting her expertise and knowledge of the subjects to good use for a number of years.

Due to the immense popularity with the British public, is it really all that surprising that her fans love to delve into her off-camera life, too?

London-born Humble has been married to well-known producer and director Ludo Graham since 1992, when she was just 23. The pair are childhood sweethearts, having met at 16.

Since speaking openly about her desire not to have kids, Kate has described the "amazing" and positive public reaction to her confession. Again, in 2016, whilst appearing as a guest on ITV talk-show Lorraine, she added: "So many women via social media and in the papers said 'gosh, thanks for saying what we've felt' because some people just don't want kids!

"I don’t think it’s anybody’s business but I think it’s just easier if I just come out and say, ‘I don’t want them, I’ve never wanted them’."

Kate's husband, who she now resides with in the Wye Valley village of Trellech, assisted in the filming of Escape to the Country back in 2020 whilst she was the host. She later told Hello: "I was quite nervous – I think he was too – but without sounding like an overly adoring wife, he is very good at what he does and has been doing it for a very long time.

"It was lovely to be on our home turf. All the people we filmed are people we know and work with, so it was like we were creating our own bubble, our gang."

The childhood sweethearts now enjoy the best of their country lifestyle in Wales, alongside their three dogs, Teg, Badger and Bella, with Kate having discovered some rather unconventional hobbies and interests whilst there.

She recently told The Mirror: "I do like taking my clothes off and feeling at one with nature. Sometimes I get completely overwhelmed by the beauty of the environment around me and it just seems the most natural way to experience it. I said the same thing on Rob Brydon’s show, The Guess List – that if you’re in a very beautiful place there is something very celebratory about having a little nudey dance."

She added, "The Naturist Society loves me now! It’s hilarious. In fact, I’ve had some very lovely messages from naturists. But I didn’t mean to give the impression I spend all my time dancing 'round naked, especially not in bloody tick season!"
