Gogglebox stars Jenny Newby and Lee Riley have offered an update to fans after leaving them gutted on Friday night. The pair have been away from the Channel 4 show for a few weeks now.
And the fan favourites didn't return to screens last night (May 27) for the last Gogglebox of the current series. It comes after Lee told press earlier this month that Jenny "isn't very well" and was undergoing an operation. He made the comments during an appearance at the Bafta TV Awards where he hit the red carpet without his sidekick but alongside fellow Goggleboxers Marcus Luther and Mica Ven.
However, after sparking concern, Lee took to the pair's joint Instagram page and issued a video message. He said from his caravan in Hull he confirmed Jenny had had an operation but it was one that had been put on hold for two years during the pandemic .
But now, Jenny has somewhat made a return as she sat alongside her best pal and co-star to give an update. Posting a video to their Instagram page on Thursday, Lee said: "You'll never guess who I've just bumped into, she's out of hospital" before spinning the camera round to show a waving Jenny.
She then said: "I just want to thank you all for your kind, get well wishes. They really cheered me up. And I'm looking forward to seeing you all in series 20". Lee then confirmed when exactly the pair will be back together on-screen and added: "September guys. We'll be back in September."
Their fellow Goggleboxers were among the first to comment, with Izzi Warner writing: " Glad to see you’re feeling better Jenny lots of love." Sister Ellie replied: " So glad to see you looking so well Jenny! Lots of love."
Mica Ven commented: "S ending lots of love from Meesh & Marky." Daniel Lustig added: " Great to see you back Jenny." And Lee's partner Steve also left a reply. He said to his husband: " See you soon my love can’t wait a very sunny 30c today phew now get yourself on that plane home," referring to Cyprus.
Despite their update, Gogglebox fans were still sad not to see them on-screen. @Craigliott24 tweeted: "Haven't seen Jenny & Lee for, two weeks. I really miss them. #Gogglebox." @Pilch1972 shared: "Where is Lee and Jenny. Tonight……. Missing them big time #Gogglebox."
